Summer time is close to and this week marks the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season. That makes this the proper time to show our consideration to the subject.

Our visitor this week guides us via the upcoming season. Joel Cline is the tropical program coordinator at Nationwide Climate Service headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, and beforehand labored on the Nationwide Hurricane Heart from 1987 to 1996, serving as a forecaster throughout Hurricane Andrew.

He was a part of a group which accomplished a service evaluation of Hurricane Michael in 2018, and is working with the Nationwide Institutes of Requirements and Expertise to review 2017’s Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

He’s main efforts to enhance a wide range of Nationwide Hurricane Heart merchandise, together with higher methods to convey forecast uncertainty.

Cline earned a Bachelor’s Diploma in Meteorology and Laptop Science at NC State, and a Grasp’s Diploma in Meteorology & Bodily Oceanography from the College of Miami.
