Prosecutor: Phillipsburg police officer possessed images, movies of kid sexual abuse

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. – A Phillipsburg police officer is behind bars after a tip from the Nationwide Middle for Lacking and Exploited Kids was despatched to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Workplace.

“It indicated that somebody in Phillipsburg had distributed baby porn,” stated Warren County Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer.

That tip led the prosecutors to 33-year-old Gary Ricker, who’s been with the Phillipsburg Police Division since 2016. He was allegedly distributing images and movies of kid sexual abuse.

“That was by means of a messaging software generally known as KIK,” Pfeiffer stated.

After a search of Ricker’s residence again in February, investigators say he was in possession of 39 recordsdata of images and movies containing baby pornography.

“We have been capable of recuperate a lot of units from him,” Pfeiffer stated.

Ricker has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a kid.

“One for possession, the opposite for distribution as a result of he did actually share that with others,” Pfeiffer stated.

With one second-degree cost, and one third-degree cost, Ricker faces as much as 15 years in New Jersey State Jail.

He is awaiting his look in Warren County Superior Court docket.
