Tractor-trailer into embankment closes Schantz Street

UPPER MACUNGIE, Pa. — Crews have been on the scene of an accident involving a tractor-trailer into an embankment on a highway in Lehigh County.

State police stated a tractor-trailer was driving west on Schantz Street in Higher Macungie when it went off the roadway, hit a guardrail and a utility pole, and went into an embankment.

The crash prompted fluid to leak from the truck into a close-by creek. Hazmat crews have been referred to as to the scene.

Higher Macungie Police stated Schantz Street is closed between Grim Street and Route 100.

No accidents have been reported.

Police stated Schantz Street can be closed for an prolonged time frame.
